What I Wore Wednesday – The Rare White Shirt

Hey Glossies,

When I read style books/magazines, a fundamental piece of clothing that all fashionable women should have is a crisp white shirt.  Hopefully, she will have several of them.  Well, I am one of the rare fashionable ladies who, until recently, did not own any white shirts. Like none at all!! I am afraid of white shirts because a large, visible stain always finds its way on my shirt, right before I leave the house.  So I decided about 7 years ago, enough was enough!! But the problem is/was that I have been secretly obsessing about white shirts, but my pragmatic self squashes the obsession.

So I was perusing Lands’ End website, and I saw the Women’s Long Sleeve No Iron Pinpoint Jewelneck Shirt. It comes in white and navy.  I had overdosed a bit on navy and I was eying the shirt in white.  I was giddy that this shirt had no collar!! I decided that I was going to wear it with the reddish coral lightweight scarf that acts a buffer for my face and neckline.

When wearing white, I always tell clients to wear flesh tone undergarments because the flesh does not show through white, but most colors will.  Since I don’t own any flesh-tone camisoles/tanks, I opted for a navy blue tank to layer underneath the white shirt.  I think the navy tank worked out well.

The scarf also worked out very well. It really did its job as being a stain repellant. :)

This white shirt purchase did not make me want to purchase another white top.  Even though the top was collarless (remember, I was feeling all giddy on the inside), it still seemed a bit high maintenance to me. But I do like the shirt, a lot, and I do plan to wear it again before the year ends with a jacket or cardigan.

I like the style of your white shirt but what I love is how pretty the coral scarf is near your face! That’s a great color for you.
