So we have seen and discussed the makeup looks.  Today, I will focus on the hair design for Ace.

The stylist duo,  Style Konfidential, decided that to achieve the ‘”glammed up” look that Ace desired was for her to have longer hair. KL of Style Konfidential, “Normally, Ace wears her in twists and we knew longer hair for ‘ The Coronation’ would help her to stand out among her peers.”

KJ of Style Konfidential added, “I thought long, big, soft curls with a hint of color would give her the  “sexy” look she desperately wanted while providing her with an adorable youthful look that would please her parents. It was a win-win situation. Furthermore, she needed a style that she could easily maintain after this event. This style affords her the opportunity to pin it up or place in a ponytail and go on with her day. Imagine sexy, youthful, and versatile all wrapped up in one style; we love it!”

KJ noted, “the hairstyle also had to work with a tiara, so we, definitely, kept that in my mind when we were brainstorming hair ideas.”

From the makeup to hair, Ace looks like she was the Belle of the Ball.

I was tasked with creating a makeup look for Ace.  I wanted her to have a neutral, classic look.  First things first, we had to get those brows waxed and shaped!

Since this was her first time getting a brow wax, I went easy on Ace.  I asked the woman who did the brow waxing to clean up the brows and create a slight arch.

Makeup

I was scheduled to do a makeup trial after Ace returned from her Senior trip in Florida.   The makeup was not adhering to her face well because of the many tiny bumps on her face, so I had to go back to the drawing board.  I realized that she had heat rash , so consulted with my Beauty Gurus. They recommended a treatment of cortisone cream and aloe vera gel.  Ace began the treatment a few days after and it started to clear up her skin.  After I did the second makeup trial, switched foundations, the makeup look was really coming together.

This week, Pumps and Gloss will be doing a special Prom 2012 feature.

A few months back, the stylist duo, Style Konfidential,  was asked to help create a look a look for a high school senior attending the ‘prom’. In her case, the ‘prom’ is called “The Coronation”, which is similar to a Cotillion because all the young ladies in the senior class have to wear white gowns and parents and other adults can attend.  At The Coronation, a king and queen are crowned based on the total amount of money collected in the fundraiser.  Each high school senior of this class retains the funds collected and the money goes towards his or her college education.

The Client

“Ace” is a very ambitious young woman and is very active at church and at school.  She is a honor student and will be attending university in the fall.

Ace’s style is a cool casual, no makeup save mascara and light lip gloss.

Before

She told the Style Konfidential duo that she wanted to have a glammed up look for the Coronation.  She wanted the “Wow Factor!”

Over the next few days, with the permission from the ladies of Style Konfidential and Ace, Pumps and Gloss blog will  chronicle the run up to the day of Coronation.

If you read last year’s Mothers Day tribute, you will know that my Grandmother “Pearl” meant (and still means) the world to me. In honor of Mothers Day, the Friday Footwear pick is the Ralph Lauren Collection Python-Mother of Pearl Sandal.  How fitting that I find a lovely heel from the Ralph Lauren Collection called Mother of Pearl.

The leather of the sandal is made from python and the heel is covered in genuine Mother of Pearl.  The sole, leather-lined, is padded.  The heel is 4 inches.

I love the pink pearl python (say that 3 times fast) leather and the mother of pearl-coated heel.  The sandal is so chic and über-feminine.

I think my Grandma “Pearl” would have loved these shoes.  I can imagine her wearing these gorgeous high-heeled sandals to one of her very fancy functions.  She would have killed them softly.

I was in my local MAC store to catch up on some collection releases.  I saw the “Reel Sexy” collection and instantly fell in love with MAC Heroine (matte) lipstick.  I was shocked to learn that the product was sold out…like “I almost cried” shocked.

I wanted this color so bad that I asked the MA for a dupe recommendation. She recommended MAC Magenta Lip Liner and Funtabulous dazzleglass.

I think the dupe is pretty, but the color is more red than the MAC Heroine, which has more blue.  What do you think?

UPDATE – My beauty fairy godmother found me a tube of MAC Heroine lipstick and sent it to me.  I am, indeed, a very happy camper.  I plan on wearing Heroine with the Magenta lip liner and Funtabulous dazzleglass.

After posting about Eloquii a few weeks back, I decided to purchase a few more items from the brand.  One of the items that I purchased was the Chiffon Ruffle Front Shirt in Okra Green.  The blouse fabric is stretch cotton and the ruffles are polyester.  The blouse actually fit well in the bust area….no gaping.

I ordered my “normal” size in the Chiffon Ruffle Front Shirt, but the sizing seems to be similar plus size brands (e.g. Lane Bryant), which means for most tops, specifically, knitwear, I will need to size up (unlike Talbots, Ralph Lauren, Dorothy Perkins and Boden).  Also, I found that the garment measurements were very difficult to obtain, so no final sale purchases for me!
