Makeup Monday – Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation

Hey Glossies,

Normally with Maybelline foundations, I have to mix 2 shades, Caramel (a bit too light) and Cocoa (too dark) to get the desired shade. I have pleaded with Maybelline to create a shade in-between Caramel and Cocoa. When I saw that the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation was available in Light Cocoa, I had to try it out.

Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation - Light Cocoa 360 Shade

Initially, when the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation is sprayed into the palm of the hand, the shade appears lighter than expected, but it quickly turns darker into the Light Cocoa shade.

I tried the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation with a foundation brush and with my hands. The foundation brush seemed to make the foundation look blotchy, streaky and not a lot of coverage. On the other hand, when I used my hands, the application seemed to be more even and the coverage was medium buildable. I rubbed my hands together as if I were lathering up soap and and patted my face with the foundation. I blended with buffer

Before

brush and I repeated the patting motion twice for the right amount of coverage needed.

After

The foundation is lightweight and lasted the entire day. I did not see any signs of oxidation or the gray cast that some other Maybelline foundations cause.

Overall, I like the Maybelline Dream Nude Airfoam Foundation in Light Cocoa. It was a bit messy to use (keep makeup remover wipes handy). I like that I did not have to mix colors. *3 Cheers*

I will definitely re-purchase.

Friday Footwear – Vince Camuto ‘Sakina’ Sandal

Hey Glossies,

The weather has been playing games with our hearts. One day the temperature is the mid-80s and the next day, light flurries.  What is a girl to do?  Dream about warmer days!

This week’s Friday Footwear selection is the Vince Camuto ‘Sakina’ Sandal.  The beige leather wedge has a 4.75 heel with 1-inch platform.  My favorite feature on the shoe is the cutout on the back.  The rose gold metallic leather and the beige leather are a wonderful pairing that add a touch of whimsical elegance.

Retails for $128.95.

What I Wore Wednesday – Navy and Ivory

Hey Glossies,

The classic combination of navy and ivory are great for all the seasons, but I do love to wear the combo during the spring and summer seasons.  Recently, someone asked a question about which colors worked best with navy blue and white (ivory). The answer is every color!  Do not ever be afraid to play around with color and prints.

Makeup Monday – Sephora Prisma Chrome Eye Shadow

Hey Glossies,

I have been a fan of Sephora* brand products for a long time. I have added the Prisma Chrome Eye Shadow to the long list of Sephora brand products that I enjoy. The Prisma Chrome Eye Shadow is similar to the MAC’s Extra Dimension Eye Shadow. The shadows are high shine and have a pretty good color payoff. Payoff is more intense if used wet or with an eyes shadow base.

The shadows come in (about) 11 shades. I saw a green shade at the local Sephora. The price is $15 and each comes with a built-in mirror.

I purchased 2 Prisma Chrome Eye Shadows in Shimmery Sand and Sapphire Shine.

Friday Footwear – Rachel Roy Carthay Pump

Hey Glossies,

Lately, I have been crushing a lot on yellow, teal (turquoise) even blue *gasp*. This season I have overlooked pink, especially fuchsia, because I feel that I am picking my favorite (safe) color.  Well no more!

Today’s Friday Footwear selection is the Rachel Roy Carthay Pump in Medpi (fuchsia pink).  The sueded pump has a 4.5-inch heel with an inch platform. The Carthay has metallic detailing on the platform and heel.   A great shoe that can take you from Spring to Winter, very easily.

The Carthay shoe color on the website as bright as in real life, but in the store, the color is a bit deeper and more brilliant.

Also comes in Black and retails for $99.

What I Wore Wednesday – ShaToBu Shaping Rib Get Fit Tights

Hey Glossies,

In my neck of the woods, over the past couple of weeks, the weather had very warm weather. During this time, I was very much under the weather.  I was hopped up on meds  in the house while everyone else was enjoying fun in the sun.  Truth be told, I was not ready to let go of winter (clothes), so I think my situation worked out for the best. :)

Well, this past week, the temps went down to a reasonable cool, so I could wear some of my fall/winter clothing, specifically the Mulholland Tweed Skirt (Talbots) and the ShaToBu Get Fit Tights.

Review

I love to wear tights, so I was interested in trying out the ShāToBu™ Get Fit shapewear tights. When worn, the tights are supposed to ‘burn additional calories’, tone muscles, smooth bulges, eliminate VPL and help a woman feel great.  The ShāToBu™ Shaping Rib Tight comes in Jet Black, Steel and Brown. Sizes range from S-2XL; prices range from $28-$88 and can be found at Fine department stores.

ShāToBu™ Get Fit Tights - Shaping Rib Tight

I tried the ShāToBu™ Shaping Rib Tights in Black. Even though the tights are shapewear, they are fashion forward and fun and I love that!  The tights were comfortable to wear, especially in the thigh area. I did not find them difficult to put on or take off.  The ShāToBu™ Shaping Rib Tights lifted my butt from the normal pancake size. (A definite plus!)

Details of ShāToBu Shaping Rib Tight (Shoes - Ralph Lauren)

Overall, I liked the ShāToBu™ Shaping Rib Tights.  I am not sure if I burned calories while wearing them, but I did not run to take off my hosiery as I usually do when I wear hosiery.  Also the fabric was sturdy, but not suffocating. I felt great in the tights and I do plan on trying the ShāToBu™ High Waist Shaping Tights.

Top Tuesday – Ralph Lauren Valencie Silk Ruffle Top

Hey Glossies, Like many of you, I am a frustrated shopper. I like what I like and want I want, which is classic Americana fashion. From 2007 to Fall 2010, I had a tough time finding fashions that I like that could fit. What I find most egregious is that many brands that sell Plus-size fashions only sell the frumpy or a super casual options, none of which I like. So while shopping online at Ralph Lauren, I decided to fill out the post-shopping survey. I feel that is my duty as a concerned and frequent shopper to let the brand know the areas that I love and the other areas that I feel need improving. I included in the survey that I love the clothes and styles and I wish that the Lauren Women’s line included more Plus size options similar to the Misses line, especially blouses and dresses (including after-five attire). I reminded the company that there are Plus-size women who love classic Americana styles, but are constantly being left out of the mix. Well, someone at Ralph Lauren is listening! In ages past, Ralph Lauren would not have made Plus-size version of the Valencie Silk Ruffle Top. I love the ruffles and vertical navy blue and white stripes.

Makeup Monday – Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel

Hey Glossies,

Recently, I tried the Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel.   The gel is a combination of foundation, primer, color-corrector and powder.  The gel is formulated with rich antioxidants, and vitamins A and E  which should instantly improve skin tone and retrain proper hydration.

The Gel comes in 5 shades:  Translucent, Luminous, Radiant, Rich and Decadent.

I used the Perfekt Skin Perfection gel in Decadent.  The texture is smooth and lightweight and the product does not stain like traditional foundations.

Before Applying Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel - Decadent

Because of the scarring on my cheeks, I do not use tinted moisturizers because I need medium (buildable) coverage.  The Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel did reduce a bit of the scarring.

After Applying Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel - Decadent

Perfekt Skin Perfection Gel - FOTD

Overall, I like this product more as a primer and color corrector.  Foundation looks fresher longer and I had a glow to my skin that was not dewy or oily.  If a tinted moisturizer does not work for you, I suggest opting for the Translucent formula. Retails for $57.50 and can be found at Sephora.
