What I Wore Wednesday – Preppy Plus

Hey Glossies,

It is not easy to find plus-size blouses in the classic Americana style.   I see a lot of crazy looking fabrics used to make plus-size tops as well as unflattering silhouettes. My soul cringes.  And what is even more difficult, is to see blouses and tops that I love from brands that will not bother to cater to the plus size ladies who love classic and preppy styles. *Yes, we do exist!!*  Thankfully, I have been able to add Lands’ End  as another one of my go-to stores for finding classic/preppy pieces that fit.  (I wish that Lands’ End Canvas carried plus-size items, but that is a rant for another day!)

Most Wanted

So I have wanted the J. Crew Mona patent-leather pumps in Poppy since seeing them in-store Holiday 2011.  Poppy is a reddish coral that is great for all the seasons.   I stalked them online and when I decided to buy them, they were sold out online.  (That is the J. Crew story of my life!) I saw them in-store for $69.99 (plus additional 30% off), but not in my size.  I was totally annoyed to the point I thought (albeit briefly) about knocking the shoes off the display!! lol

Well, I spoke to my fairy J. Crew godmother and she advised me on what I needed to do to get the Mona Poppy Pumps.  I followed her instructions and I got the shoes sent to my house for the in-store price and 30% off.  *I catdaddy-ed in my foyer when the package arrived!* Or something close to it. lol

Lovely outfit. Love the bag. I did not realize it was that big.

You were so lucky to get that shoe for $40-something. They are like 150 online.

@Diva08, you are correct, that was the cost. I am glad that I got the store price because I didn’t want to spend more than what was on my gift card.

@Bex Mex, Zara has the size details on its site. I could fit 2 iPads, a phone, wallet and misc beauty products in the purse. 🙂
